Subscriber gates, your audience, link alerts and tile tests

Open a tile only for people on your list, tag and group the people who got in touch, hear when a link breaks, and test a second version of a tile.

Plan: Pro, $5 a month

Link alerts work on every plan. Subscriber gates, tags, notes, segments and tile tests come with Pro.

Open a tile only for subscribers

  1. Step 1: Open Forms & gates, click New form or gate and pick Subscribers only.

  2. Step 2: Under Lists this gate checks you see your OneLink list, Mailchimp and Kit. Mailchimp is connected under Subscribers. For Kit, paste a Kit API key (in Kit: Settings, Developer) and click Connect Kit.

  3. Step 3: On Substack, export your subscribers from Substack, then click Import a CSV of subscribers. Substack has no way for us to check its list, so the gate trusts the list OneLink keeps. Nobody is emailed.

  4. Step 4: Add a Subscribe link (optional) for people who aren't on the list yet. Left empty, it goes to the sign-up box on your page.

  5. Step 5: Click Make gate, then pick it in the Gate box on a tile, a folder or a section, as with any gate. See Forms, sign-ups and gates.

  6. Step 6: Visitors enter their email. If it's on your list, the tile opens for 12 hours. If not, they see "We can't find that email on the list" and a Subscribe link.

Tag people and save segments

  1. Step 1: Open Audience. People lists everyone who signed up, wrote, said they're coming, filled in a form, opened a gate, bought or booked, once each.

  2. Step 2: Click a person. Type in Add a tag and press Enter. Click the x on a tag to remove it. Write Notes; only your team sees them.

  3. Step 3: Tags go to Mailchimp as tags when it's connected, and to your CRM on Enterprise.

  4. Step 4: Click New segment. Pick a Tag, How they got in touch, First seen from and To dates, Has sent you a message or Has bought something, give it a Name, and click Save segment.

  5. Step 5: Pick a segment at the top to see who's in it. Click Export CSV for a file of just them.

  6. Step 6: Click Send to this segment to write an email to them. Email your subscribers opens with the segment picked under Who gets it. Only people on your list who haven't unsubscribed get it. See Email your subscribers.

Hear when a link breaksFree

  1. Step 1: OneLink checks every link tile and every feed on your page once a day.

  2. Step 2: The first time a link stops opening, or a feed stops working, the page owner gets one email that names the tiles, with a link to fix them. You hear about each problem once.

  3. Step 3: Open Grid to see the broken tiles in a box at the top. Click Fix to jump to the tile, then change its link or hide it.

  4. Step 4: To stop these emails, turn off Email me when someone writes or signs up under Settings. On Newsroom, pick A link or feed stops working (daily check) for your Slack, Teams or webhook alert under Connections.

Try a second version of a tile

  1. Step 1: Open Grid and click the flask button on a link tile: Try a second version.

  2. Step 2: Fill in a Second title, a Second link or Add a second picture. Anything you leave empty stays as the tile has it. Click Start the test.

  3. Step 3: Half your visitors see the second version. Each visitor keeps seeing the same one.

  4. Step 4: Open Insights and scroll to Tile tests to see taps and tap rate for each version.

  5. Step 5: Click Use this one under the version you want. The second version becomes the tile, or the tile stays as it was, and the test ends.
